At Caterpillar’s Indonesia Batam, we manufacture Hydraulic Shovel products used in building the infrastructure and mining to move materials that make a better world. As Manager of Manufacturing Engineering (Fabrication), you will work closely with operations, weld engineering, quality, and product engineering to ensure product safety, quality, cost, and velocity objectives are delivered. Leading a team of professional manufacturing engineers to develop and execute initiatives that support product Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), manufacturing systems, manufacturing processes, and product engineering in the heavy fabrication space. Additional Info: Shift: Regular Work Location: Batam, Kepulauan Riau Travel Requirement: No You will work both in an office and manufacturing shop-floor environment. What You Will Do: Leading a team of professional engineers in the Manufacturing Fabrication space of heavy structures. Working with international teams and local partners to deliver safe, optimized processes that deliver class-leading quality. Leading fabrication execution through manufacturing processing, cost estimating, systems planning, layout, standards, releasing, gauging, and checking equipment, tooling, and work standards. Managing the development, implementation, and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems, and other operating infrastructure used to realize operating goals and objectives. Overseeing programs and practices for hiring, performance management, and developing/training the personnel that perform and support the plant operating functions. Coordinating release dates and availability of machines and new investments to satisfy demand requirements. Ensuring implementation of modern technology and verifying the effectiveness of equipment and systems. Support product quality reviews and delivery of product to specification. What You Have (Required): Fluent in English. Thorough knowledge of the APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), Lean Manufacturing, Manufacturing Equipment, Manufacturing Processes, Manufacturing Safety, and Manufacturing Standards, Procedures, and Policies. Experience in managing budgets and Capacity Planning Management. Capability to read and translate drawings with an understanding of geometric tolerancing. Degree and Experience Requirement: University degree in an appropriate manufacturing or engineering-related field. Previous supervisory experience and at least five to seven years of manufacturing experience. Top Candidates Will Also Bring (Preferable): A knowledge of fabrication in heavy equipment industries. Experience/knowledge of welding. Understanding of quality systems and measurement. Physical Requirements (With or Without Reasonable Accommodation): This job requires extensive active movement throughout the plant including climbing stairs and steps, lifting devices, and pushing and pulling equipment.
