Nursery Operations Manager Indonesia Location : Jakarta (Hybrid)Local Employment (Permanent)Minimum Field trips 70%Beginning : Q3 or Q4 2024PUR is looking for an autonomous, team player, dynamic Nursery Operation Manager in Indonesia As a key member of the Project team, you will report to the Country Manager in Jakarta and be in charge of the care, growth, and development of plants (both indoor and out) in each of Nurseries all around Indonesia which owned by the Company or External Parties to support all the activities in the field (ex: agroforestry, regenerative agriculture, reforestation, conservation, small-scale farmer livelihood). Your responsibilities include but are not limited to :Nursery management: Set-up, plan, coordinate, and monitor the implementation of nurseries activities including maintain nursery facilities, fulfill tree orders, and expand the nursery’s capacity for tree output. Build, train and manage local and statewide organizations to ensure tree production meets restoration and agroforestry needs. Assess facilities for all nurseries and develop work plans for the production of quality container seedlings of broadleaves as identified suitable for Agroforestry, multipurpose forestry or Regenerative Agriculture.Seedling Deliverable: Ensuring all the seedlings match with the timeline, quality and total number of trees based on the contracts of local and statewide organizations. Ensuring the internal tools are up-to-date.Nursery Development: Develop the best practice guidelines for handling of seedlings and set up distribution of seedlings for annual plantings minimizing time from nursery to planting and simple storage in the field to avoid drying out plants. Develop the Annual Operational Plans including developing procedures and guidelines for identification and demarcation of afforestation and demonstration sites and engagement of related parties to conduct afforestation and reforestation activities; Develop an operational work plan for collection of seeds, including logistics and other practical arrangements for annual collection in the field and for import of additional certified seeds if needed.Monitoring & Evaluation: Be accountable for overall maintenance and functioning of the nurseries and for implementing best operating practices with regard to nursery operations, health and safety obligations and environmental requirements in line with certification commitments. Oversee the process of to key staff. Lead an evaluation of current activities in terms of success rates of plantings, sourcing of suitable land and develop a plan to address practical problems to ensure future A/R activities are based on best practices;Partnership and representation: Identify, build relationships and supervise local partners (cooperatives, associations, implementing partners). Represent PUR publicly at conferences, in meetings with existing and potential nurseries, and with beneficiaries in the field when needed.You have solid Nursery management skills: operational, strategic and financial planning.You know the challenges of nursery management and are eager to manage a network of suppliers, as well as support in setting up community nurseries to reach a better standard of tree production, you are passionate about sustainability and curious about other type of ecosystems and solutions for biodiversity and climate change mitigation and you want to have a strong impact, this position is for you!!  We are looking for a candidate with:Master's degree in Sustainable Agriculture, Agriculture, Agronomy, Botany, Natural Resource Management, Rural Development or equivalent.Knowledge of plant varieties and plant production including nursery management and supervisionMinimum 3 to 5 year-experience in nursery management for production of quality tree seedlings.Knowledge/professional experience related to the carbon supply chains will be a strong asset.Experience with community-driven projects will be a strong asset.Organizational skills, reporting & data management.Must be fluent in English and Bahasa.Recruitment Process :HR InterviewCase Study with 2 Reference checkFinal Interview
