Why We Need You: We are an emerging credit card company experiencing rapid growth. To ensure the sustainability of our growth, it is imperative to develop solid underwriting and limit policies. Additionally, setting up ongoing experiments to continuously refine these policies for optimal profitability is crucial. Moreover, establishing robust reporting mechanisms and unit economic models for our portfolio is necessary to comprehend the financial repercussions of its performance, alterations we implement, and market shifts. Responsibilities: Drive the process of formulating robust underwriting and limit management strategies. Manage backlog and prioritization of your area of responsibility within credit. Identify and organize data pertinent to credit policies. Assess the performance of existing policies and explore potential enhancements. Evaluate the utility of new data sources. Collaborate with the data science team in preparing models. Define underwriting norms and cut-offs. Compute the unit economics of our product under specified policies. Calculate the Net Present Value (NPV) impact of limit augmentations. Design and drive implementation, execution, and evaluation of randomized experiments to gauge the effects of varying limits and approval decisions. Utilize the outcomes to establish NPV-optimized underwriting and limit policies. Partner with engineering teams to implement and sustain these policies. Effectively communicate findings, proposed modifications, or policies to relevant stakeholders, and defend your conclusions when necessary. Qualifications: Proven experience in creating automated model-based credit policies within a heavily data-driven financial institution. Comprehensive understanding of the financial dynamics of a revolving credit product and the capability to develop an economic model forecasting lifetime value. Proficiency in extracting data from a database (SQL, Scala, or other DB language) and analyzing it across multiple metrics and dimensions, visualizing trends, applying statistical methodologies like finding correlations, clustering, building basic models, etc., to pinpoint the primary drivers of a specific behavior (preferably in Python). A proactive mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with machine learning and data science teams to devise prompt solutions to issues, often through "workarounds," to enhance our process swiftly rather than awaiting extensive IT developments. Enthusiasm for establishing a new bank and a readiness to do whatever is necessary and work under pressure. Given our limited resources and the likelihood of facing numerous urgent unforeseen challenges, the ability to rely on every team member to exert their utmost effort to resolve issues is essential.
